RESUMO

Background: Colorectal cancer is among the leading malignancies globally and in Jordan. It causes significant morbidity and mortality. It can be detected early, but uptake of colorectal cancer screening in Jordan is substantially low. Aim: To determine the underlying barriers to the uptake of colorectal cancer screening in Jordan. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in the northern, central and southern regions of Jordan using selfadministered questionnaire that evaluated the barriers and attitudes towards colorectal cancer screening among adults aged 45 years and above living in Jordan. The data was analyzed using SPSS version 25.0. Results: Of the 1477 participants enrolled in the study, 29.1% reported the lack of information about screening as a major barrier to uptake, followed by the fear of any potential complications due to the test (10%), embarrassment associated with colonoscopy (7.8%), and fear of the result (7.4%). Only 9% of the study participants had taken the colonoscopy test for colorectal cancer screening. Conclusion: Lack of information about colorectal cancer screening, misconceptions and embarrassment drive the low uptake of colorectal cancer screening in Jordan. There is a need for nationwide education and awareness on colorectal cancer screening to address the barriers reported in this study and increase screening uptake.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The use of echocardiography in pulmonary hypertension (PH) in advanced chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is understudied. We aimed to compare the performance of echocardiography with right heart catheterization (RHC) in the diagnosis of PH in COPD patients undergoing lung transplant evaluation. METHODS: We included 111 patients with severe COPD who underwent RHC in a single center as part of lung transplantation evaluation. COPD-PH and severe COPD-PH were defined based on RHC per the 6th world symposium on pulmonary hypertension. Echocardiographic probability of PH was described according to the European Society of Cardiology guidelines. Summary and univariate analyses were performed. RESULTS: The mean age (±SD) was 62 (8) and 47% (n=52) were men. A total of 82 patients (74 %) had COPD-PH. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive, and negative predictive values of echocardiography in diagnosing COPD-PH were 43 %, 83 %, 88 %, and 34 % respectively and for severe COPD-PH were 67 %, 75 %, 50 %, and 86 % respectively. Echocardiography was consistent with RHC in ruling in/out PH in 53% (n=59) of patients. After controlling for age, sex. BMI, pack year, echocardiography-RHC time difference, GOLD class, FVC, and CT finding of emphysema, higher TLC decreased consistency (parameter estimate=-0.031; odds ratio: 0.97, 95%CI 0.94-0.99; p=0.037) and higher DLCO increased consistency (parameter estimate=0.070; odds ratio: 1.07, 95%CI 0.94-0.99; p=0.026). CONCLUSIONS: Echocardiography has high specificity but low sensitivity for the diagnosis of PH in advanced COPD. Its performance improves when ruling out severe COPD-PH. This performance correlates inversely with lung hyperinflation.

RESUMO

This systematic review aimed to quantify the representation of Black youth in U.S. suicide intervention research. Specifically, we sought to evaluate Black youth representation in terms of (a) equity of inclusion (i.e., the inclusion of Black youth in research study samples at a rate consistent with the overall national rate of Black adolescents in the US) and (b) equity of intervention efficacy (i.e., evaluating the presence of racial disparities in intervention efficacy/effect sizes). In addition, we aimed to evaluate whether an association existed between funding status of research and representation of Black youth in studies, and to provide recommendations for future research in this area. To this end, the present study extracted and analyzed demographic information of studies included in recent meta-analyses conducted by Robinson and colleagues (2018), which were not previously analyzed, in addition to new literature published between September 2017 and January 2021. Results showed that the prevalence of Black youth included in studies was representative (14.67%; ntotal = 4451, nBlack = 664), with a median inclusion rate of 13%; however, absolute sample and group sizes were so small that it precluded comparison of differential treatment outcomes for Black youth. Thus, out of 22 studies identified, only one was able to investigate treatment outcomes for suicide in Black youth specifically. This study points to the conclusion that without adequately powered studies, disparities in treatment efficacy for Black youth cannot be compared or addressed, and the existing disparity in suicidal outcomes for Black youth will grow even larger.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Medical students have a lower quality of life (QoL) when compared to the general population. This lower QoL is associated with multiple factors such as burnout and depressive symptoms. QoL can be reflected in the degree of career satisfaction and career regret. We aim to study the prevalence of career regret in Jordanian medical students and its association with QoL and other related factors. METHODS: This national cross-sectional study consisted of an anonymous online survey distributed to medical students enrolled in all six Jordanian medical schools over a period of 6 weeks. A validated tool was used to assess QoL and students were asked a series of questions related to their career satisfaction and career regret. RESULTS: A total of 544 medical students completed the survey. The mean age was 21.5 ± 1.63 years (range 17-29), with 45.6% being males. The overall mean physical health score was 45.9 ± 5.17, and the overall mean mental health score (mental component summary (MCS)) was 42.04 ± 5.52. 76.3% of students have regretted studying medicine, citing stress as the main reason. There was a significant relation between the year of study and the percentage of career regret. Additionally, mean MCS was significantly lower in students who were frequently or always thinking about dropping out of medical school. DISCUSSION: The high percentage of career regret and the low mental QoL in Jordanian students are alarming findings, highlighting an underlying source of psychological distress in Jordanians. This calls for further investigations into the psychological health of medical students, as well as interventions to prevent the development of consequences that can impact both students and their future patients.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES: There are scarce data on the factors associated with impaired functional status after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and its clinical impact. This study aimed to determine the incidence, predictors, and prognostic implications of impaired functional class (NYHA class III-IV) following TAVR. METHODS: This multicenter study included 3462 transarterial TAVR patients receiving newer generation devices. The patients were compared according to their NYHA class at 1 month of follow-up (NYHA I-II vs NYHA III-IV). A multivariate logistic regression was performed to identify the predictors of 30-day NYHA class III-IV. Patient survival was compared with the Kaplan-Meier method and factors associated with decreased survival were identified with Cox regression analysis. RESULTS: The mean age of the study population was 80.3±7.3 years, with 47% of women, and a median Society of Thoracic Surgeons score of 3.8% [IQR, 2.5-5.8]. A total of 208 patients (6%) were in NYHA class III-IV 1 month after TAVR. Predictors of 30-day NYHA class III-IV were baseline NYHA class III-IV (OR, 1.76; 95%CI, 1.08-2.89; P=.02), chronic pulmonary obstructive disease (OR, 1.80; 95%CI, 1.13-2.83; P=.01), and post-TAVR severe mitral regurgitation (OR, 2.00; 95%CI, 1.21-3.31; P<.01). Patients in NYHA class III-IV 1 month after TAVR were at higher risk of death (HR, 3.68; 95%CI, 2.39-5.70; P<.01) and heart failure-related hospitalization (HR, 6.00; 95%CI, 3.76-9.60; P<.01) at 1-year follow-up. CONCLUSIONS: Up to 6% of contemporary TAVR patients exhibited an impaired functional status following TAVR. Worse baseline NYHA class, chronic pulmonary obstructive disease, and severe mitral regurgitation predicted 30-day NYHA class III/IV, and this determined a higher risk of mortality and heart failure hospitalization at 1-year follow-up. Further studies on the prevention and treatment optimization of patients with impaired functional status after TAVR are needed.

RESUMO

Introduction: Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) are considered an integral part of the assessment process of many schools of medicine worldwide. Close monitoring by examiners, scrutinized interactions with patients, and fear of the unknown, among other factors have been reported to cause psychological stress among students during the examinations period. In this study, we aimed to assess changes in cardiovascular parameters, anxiety scores, and lifestyle patterns of medical students during their OSCEs as compared to their baseline. Materials and Methods: We recruited healthy medical students from our institution's medical school. General demographics, academic, and baseline lifestyle characteristics were collected 1-2 months before the OSCE day. The Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item (GAD-7) scale was used to measure anxiety symptoms. Data related to coffee consumption in addition to systolic, diastolic blood pressure and heart rate measurements were collected both at baseline and on OSCE day. Results: This study included 325 students (144 (44.3%) males and 181 (55.7%) females). The mean systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, and heart rate measurements were significantly higher on OSCE day as compared to the baseline. In addition, the daily consumption of coffee increased significantly during OSCE day as compared to the baseline. Although the anxiety score increased during OSCE day compared to the baseline, the difference was not statistically significant. However, the change in anxiety score (OSCE day - baseline) was significantly higher in females compared to males. Conclusion: In our study, we observed significant increases in blood pressure, heart rate, and coffee intake on the day of the test compared to baseline measurements. These findings underscore the significance of implementing measures to reduce the harmful effects of stress on students during exam preparations and medical school assessments.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The burden of cardiac death after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), particularly from advanced heart failure (HF) and sudden cardiac death (SCD), remains largely unknown. OBJECTIVES: This study sought to evaluate the incidence and predictors of SCD and HF-related death in TAVR recipients treated with newer-generation devices. METHODS: This study included a total of 5,421 consecutive patients who underwent TAVR with newer-generation devices using balloon (75.7%) or self-expandable (24.3%) valves. RESULTS: After a median follow-up of 2 (IQR: 1-3) years, 976 (18.0%) patients had died, 50.8% from cardiovascular causes. Advanced HF and SCD accounted for 11.6% and 7.5% of deaths, respectively. Independent predictors of HF-related death were atrial fibrillation (HR: 2.17; 95% CI: 1.47-3.22; P < 0.001), prior pacemaker (HR: 1.79; 95% CI: 1.10-2.92; P = 0.01), reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (HR: 1.08 per 5% decrease; 95% CI: 1.01-1.14; P = 0.02), transthoracic approach (HR: 2.50; 95% CI: 1.37-4.55; P = 0.003), and new-onset persistent left bundle branch block (HR: 1.85; 95% CI: 1.14-3.02; P = 0.01). Two baseline characteristics (diabetes, HR: 1.81; 95% CI: 1.13-2.89; P = 0.01; and chronic kidney disease, HR: 1.72; 95% CI: 1.02-2.90; P = 0.04) and 3 procedural findings (valve in valve, HR: 2.17; 95% CI: 1.01-4.64; P = 0.04; transarterial nontransfemoral approach, HR: 2.23; 95% CI: 1.23-4.48; P = 0.01; and periprocedural ventricular arrhythmia, HR: 7.19; 95% CI: 2.61-19.76; P < 0.001) were associated with an increased risk of SCD after TAVR. CONCLUSIONS: Advanced HF and SCD accounted for a fifth of deaths after TAVR in contemporary practice. Potentially treatable factors leading to increased risk of HF deaths and SCD were identified, such as arrhythmia/dyssynchrony factors for HF and valve-in-valve TAVR or periprocedural ventricular arrhythmias for SCD.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Cardiac stress testing (CST) is commonly performed after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), yet little is known whether such ischemic testing is associated with improved clinical outcomes. METHODS: We studied patients who underwent their first PCI procedure from October 2008 to December 2016 in Ontario, Canada. Patients who underwent CST from 60 days to 1 year after PCI were compared with those who did not undergo CST. The primary outcome was a composite of cardiovascular death or hospitalisation for myocardial infarction (MI) at 3 years after CST. Inverse probability of treatment weighting was used to adjust for potential differences between the study groups. RESULTS: Among the 86,150 included patients, 40,988 (47.6%) underwent CST within 60 days to 1 year after PCI. Patients who underwent CST had higher prescription rates of cardiac medications. At 1 year after CST, rates of cardiac catheterisation and coronary revascularisation were more than double those observed in the nontested group (13.4% vs 5.9%, standardised difference [SD] 0.26, for cardiac catheterisation; 6.6% vs 2.7%, SD 0.19, for PCI). The CST group had a significantly lower primary event rate at 3 years compared without CST (3.9% vs 4.5%, hazard ratio 0.87, 95% confidence interval 0.81-0.93). CONCLUSIONS: This population-based study of PCI patients found a small but significantly lower risk of cardiovascular events among patients who received CST. Further studies are needed to confirm these findings and determine the specific aspects of care that may be associated with the modestly improved outcomes.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: A small aortic annulus (SAA) is a risk factor for prosthesis-patient mismatch (PPM) in patients undergoing surgical or transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). Data regarding TAVI in patients with extra-SAA are scarce. AIMS: The aim of this study was to analyse the safety and efficacy of TAVI in patients with extra-SAA. METHODS: A multicentre registry study including patients with extra-SAA (defined as an aortic annulus area <280 mm2 and/or perimeter <60 mm) undergoing TAVI was established. Primary efficacy and safety endpoints were defined as device success and early safety at 30 days, respectively, using the Valve Academic Research Consortium-3 criteria, and were analysed according to valve type: self-expanding (SEV) versus balloon-expandable (BEV). RESULTS: A total of 150 patients were included, of which 139 (92.7%) were women, and 110 (73.3%) received an SEV. Intraprocedural technical success was 91.3%, with a higher rate in patients receiving an SEV (96.4% vs 77.5% with BEV; p=0.001). Overall, 30-day device success was 81.3%, (85.5% with SEV vs 70.0% with BEV; p=0.032). The primary safety endpoint occurred in 72.0% of patients (with no difference between groups; p=0.118). Severe PPM occurred in 12% (9.0% with SEV and 24.0% with BEV; p=0.039), with no impact on all-cause mortality, cardiovascular mortality, or heart failure readmission at 2-year follow-up. CONCLUSIONS: TAVI is a safe and feasible treatment in patients with extra-SAA with a high rate of technical success. The use of SEV was associated with a lower rate of intraprocedural complications, higher device success at 30 days and better haemodynamic outcomes compared to BEV.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The potential benefit of using larger or smaller transcatheter heart valves (THV) in patients with borderline aortic annulus measurement (BAM) remains uncertain. The objective of this study was to evaluate the clinical outcomes associated with the selection of larger or smaller THV in the context of BAM. METHODS: This was a multicenter observational study including patients who underwent transcatheter aortic valve replacement with the SAPIEN 3 or SAPIEN 3 Ultra-valve systems (Edwards Lifesciences, Irvine, CA) from April 2014 to June 2021. BAM was defined according to the manufacturer sizing chart and included the following annulus areas: 314 to 346, 400 to 430, 500 to 546 mm2. A 1:1 propensity score matching was used to compare outcomes of patients with larger or smaller THV. RESULTS: From a total of 2467 patients, BAM was identified in 852 patients (34.5%). A larger and smaller THV was selected in 338 (39.7%) and 514 patients (60.3%) patients, respectively. The choice of a larger THV was associated (before and after propensity matching) with a higher risk of new-onset left bundle branch block (HR, 2.25 [95% CI, 1.39-3.65; P=0.001) and permanent pacemaker implantation (HR, 1.86 [95% CI, 1.11-3.09]; P=0.016) without any impact on gradients or the risk of moderate or severe paravalvular regurgitation at discharge (HR, 0.78 [95% CI, 0.41-1.45]; P=0.427). The risk of periprocedural complications such as aortic rupture and tamponade was low (<1%) and similar between groups. CONCLUSIONS: In patient with BAM, selecting a larger SAPIEN 3/Ultra THV increased the risk of conduction disturbances without any benefit on valve hemodynamics and clinical outcomes.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)-related coronary artery obstruction prediction remains unsatisfactory despite high mortality and novel preventive therapies. OBJECTIVES: This study sought to develop a predictive model for TAVR-related coronary obstruction in native aortic stenosis. METHODS: Preprocedure computed tomography and fluoroscopy images of patients in whom TAVR caused coronary artery obstruction were collected. Central laboratories made measurements, which were compared with unobstructed patients from a single-center database. A multivariate model was developed and validated against a 1:1 propensity-matched subselection of the unobstructed cohort. RESULTS: Sixty patients with angiographically confirmed coronary obstruction and 1,381 without obstruction were included. In-hospital death was higher in the obstruction cohort (26.7% vs 0.7%; P < 0.001). Annular area and perimeter, coronary height, sinus width, and sinotubular junction height and width were all significantly smaller in the obstructed cohort. Obstruction was most common on the left side (78.3%) and at the level of the coronary artery ostium (92.1%). Coronary artery height and sinus width, but not annulus area, were significant risk factors for obstruction by logistic regression but performed poorly in predicting obstruction. The new multivariate model (coronary obstruction IF cusp height > coronary height, AND virtual valve-to-coronary distance ≤4 mm OR culprit leaflet calcium volume >600 mm3) performed well, with an area under the curve of 0.93 (sensitivity = 0.93, specificity = 0.84) for the left coronary artery and 0.94 (sensitivity = 0.92, specificity = 0.96) for the right. CONCLUSIONS: A novel computed tomography-based multivariate prediction model that can be implemented routinely in real-world practice predicted coronary artery obstruction from TAVR in native aortic stenosis.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Evidence regarding using acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) for the prevention of cardiovascular (CV) events in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) is inconsistent. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis. METHODS: A literature search was performed (January 1990 to February 2022) and publications meeting the inclusion criteria were reviewed, and a meta-analysis was performed using RevMan software. The primary outcome was a composite of CV death, non-fatal myocardial infarction (MI) and stroke. Secondary outcomes included all-cause mortality, individual components of the primary outcome and major bleeding. RESULTS: The study cohort comprised 33525 diabetic patients from 9 randomized controlled trials. The primary outcome was significantly lower for aspirin vs. placebo (7.9 vs. 8.6, RR (risk ratio) 0.92, 95% CI (confidence interval) 0.86-0.99). All-cause mortality (10 vs. 10.3%, RR 0.97, 95% CI 0.90-1.03), CV death (4.4 vs. 4.7%, RR 0.93, 95% CI 0.83-1.04), non-fatal MI (4.6 vs. 4.8% RR 0.97, 95% CI 0.83- 1.15) and stroke (3.2 vs. 3.5%, RR 0.89, 95% CI 0.75-1.06) were similar between the two treatment groups. Major bleeding was significantly higher for aspirin compared with placebo (3.4 vs. 2.8%, RR 1.18, 95% CI 1.01-1.39). CONCLUSION: Aspirin use in patients with DM reduces the composite endpoint of CV death, non-fatal MI and stroke compared with a placebo. However, routine use of aspirin for primary prevention among diabetic patients cannot be advised due to the increased risk of major bleeding. These findings suggest careful risk assessment of individual patients.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Echocardiography is the primary imaging modality for diagnosis of infective endocarditis (IE) in prosthetic valve endocarditis (PVE) including IE after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). This study aimed to evaluate the characteristics and clinical outcomes of patients with absent compared with evident echocardiographic signs of TAVI-IE. METHODS: Patients with definite TAVI-IE derived from the Infectious Endocarditis after TAVI International Registry were investigated comparing those with absent and evident echocardiographic signs of IE defined as vegetation, abscess, pseudo-aneurysm, intracardiac fistula, or valvular perforation or aneurysm. RESULTS: Among 578 patients, 87 (15.1%) and 491 (84.9%) had absent (IE-neg) and evident (IE-pos) echocardiographic signs of IE, respectively. IE-neg were more often treated via a transfemoral access with a self-expanding device and had higher rates of peri-interventional complications (eg, stroke, major vascular complications) during the TAVI procedure (P < .05 for all). IE-neg had higher rates of IE caused by Staphylococcus aureus (33.7% vs 23.2%; P = .038) and enterococci (37.2% vs 23.8%; P = .009) but lower rates of coagulase-negative staphylococci (4.7% vs 20.0%, P = .001). IE-neg was associated with the same dismal prognosis for in-hospital mortality in a multivariate binary regression analysis (odds ratio: 1.51; 95% confidence interval [CI]: .55-4.12) as well as a for 1-year mortality in Cox regression analysis (hazard ratio: 1.10; 95% CI: .67-1.80). CONCLUSIONS: Even with negative echocardiographic imaging, patients who have undergone TAVI and presenting with positive blood cultures and symptoms of infection are a high-risk patient group having a reasonable suspicion of IE and the need for an early treatment initiation.

RESUMO

Abstract The Indian crested porcupine (Hystrix indica) is a vertebrate pest of agricultural lands and forest. The study was aimed to report the damage to local crops by the Indian crested porcupine (Hystrix indica) in the Muzaffarabad District. A survey was conducted to identify the porcupine-affected areas and assess the crop damage to the local farmers in district Muzaffarabad Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) from May 2017 to October 2017. Around 19 villages were surveyed, and a sum of 191 semi-structured questionnaires was distributed among farmers. Crop damage was found highest in village Dhanni where a porcupine destroyed 175 Kg/Kanal of the crops. Regarding the total magnitude of crop loss, village Danna and Koomi kot were the most affected areas. More than half (51.8%) of the respondents in the study area suffered the economic loss within the range of 101-200$, and (29.8%) of the people suffered losses in the range of 201-300$ annually. Among all crops, maize (Zea mays) was found to be the most damaged crop ranging between 1-300 Kg annually. In the study area, porcupine also inflicted a lot of damages to some important vegetables, including spinach (Spinacia oleracea), potato (Solanum tuberosum) and onion (Allium cepa). It was estimated that, on average, 511Kg of vegetables are destroyed by porcupine every year in the agricultural land of Muzaffarabad. It was concluded that the Indian crested porcupine has a devastating effect on agriculture which is an important source of income and food for the local community. Developing an effective pest control strategy with the help of the local government and the Wildlife department could help the farmers to overcome this problem.

Abstract Oral diseases caused by various microorganisms are common around the world. Scientific research has now been focusing on novel medicines to overcome bacterial resistance and antibiotics side effects; therefore, the current study was designed to assess the efficacy of certain antibiotics, toothpaste, and medicinal plant extracts (Ajuga bracteosa and Curcuma longa) versus the bacterial pathogens isolated from the human oral cavity. A total of 130 samples were collected from Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar, Pakistan, among those 27 species isolated, and eight bacterial species were identified from the samples. Among all the bacterial species, Staphylococcus aureus (29.62%) and Proteus mirabilis (22.2%) were found to be more prevalent oral pathogens. In comparison, the least pervasive microbes were Proteus vulgaris, Shigella sonnei, Escherichia coli and Aeromonas hydrophila. The study also suggested that dental problems were more prevalent in males (41-50 years of age) than females. Among the eight antibiotics used in the study, the most promising results were shown by Foxicillin against A. hydrophila. The survey of TP1 revealed that it showed more potent antagonist activity against Proteus vulgaris as compared TP2 and TP3 that might be due to the high content of fluoride. The Curcuma longa showed more significant activity than Ajuga bracteosa (Stem, leaves and root) extracts. The data obtained through this study revealed that antibiotics were more effective for oral bacterial pathogens than toothpaste and plant extracts which showed moderate and low activity, respectively. Therefore, it is suggested that the active compounds in individual medicinal plants like Curcuma longa and Ajuga bracteosa could replace the antibiotics when used in daily routine as tooth cleansers or mouth rinses.

Introduction: Hypertension is an important cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Undiagnosed hypertension is a serious issue that leads to increased morbidity and mortality. In this study, we aim to identify the prevalence of undiagnosed hypertension in the healthy Jordanian population, as well as identify predictors of high blood pressure readings in presumably healthy Jordanians. Materials and Methods: We recruited healthy visitors accompanying patients at our Jordan University Hospital Clinics ranging from 18 to 80 years of age. We measured each participant's systolic and diastolic blood pressure at our outpatient clinics on two different days, one week apart. We also obtained demographic data, weight, height, smoking status, and family history of hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. Results: A total of 896 participants were included in this study with a mean age of 48 years. The median of systolic blood pressure readings was 125 mmHg, and the median of diastolic blood pressure readings was 83 mmHg. 38.5% had undiagnosed stage 1 hypertension and 30.5% had undiagnosed stage 2 hypertension according to the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association guidelines. On the other hand, 25.4% had undiagnosed grade 1 hypertension and 5.1% had undiagnosed grade 2 hypertension according to the European Society of Hypertension guidelines. Conclusion: According to the ACC/AHA guidelines, 68.5% of previously healthy Jordanians met the criteria to be diagnosed with hypertension. Predictors of high systolic blood pressure were age, BMI and family history of CAD, while female gender is associated with a lower systolic blood pressure. For diastolic blood pressure, only BMI and family history of CAD were associated with significantly higher diastolic blood pressure, while female gender and exercise were significantly associated with lower diastolic blood pressure.
